Summary/Abstract: A valuable contribution to the development of science and culture, incl. and medicine in the early post-liberation period of the Principality of Bulgaria have a number of foreign doctors, engineers, architects, archaeologists and others who live and work in Bulgaria for various periods of time. One of them is the Lithuanian Dr. Jonas Yuro Basanavichus, who lives and works in Bulgaria for 23 years. His scientific and professional interests are encyclopaedic, for which he has merit for the development not only of medicine but also of many other branches of Bulgarian science.
