Archival information services – an attempt at definition

Summary/Abstract: Archival information services is a concept that has not yet been operationalized in archive studies. An attempt to define it and delineate its scope results from the requirements imposed on archives by the social changes which are currently taking place. In the era of the formation of information society, fast and effective access to information becomes particularly important. The text analyses the definitions of information services, which were introduced by information scientists, international and Polish legal acts, as well as archival literature.
