A Tradition of Albanological Tracks on the History of the Life and Works of Gjergj Kastrioti-Skënderbeu

Summary/Abstract: The studies on the figure of Gjergj Kastrioti (Skënderbeu) till the beginning have belonged different disciplines, meanwhile the first concrete steps towards the compiling of a biography related to events in which he was directly involved, were done by authors seen in manuals of literature history as humanists. Those authors remained special in our written history of literature by the fact their works were written in languages of culture of time and especially for the europian context. That’s why our studies offer potential studies of different dimensions. The highlighting of the values, but also of some constructive features of the work of Marin Barleti, the comparison with the essays of Dhimitër Frangu and any other author that for the sake of the century our national hero lived in, was invited and inspired to write about his figure and his impact in the developments in the Balcans and wider, it was done always in the tradition of studies on written Albanian history and literature, also in the historiographic studies concerning this period. The historiographic studies are an inseparable part of a complex mosaic that include inquiries of different disciplines, amongst also the contributions of scientific researchers on what’s bring the popular literature on this argument weren’t missing. It’s a difference in between the scholars and foreign authors that wrote almost immediately after the century in which Gjergj Kastrioti-Skënderbeu lived with those that right in the first decades of the last century were putting order and highlight the values helpful for the actuality the previous inquiries leaded mostly by historic dimensions of watching the life and the bravery of our hero. In this article we emphasized not only the achievements in the collective and individual studies on written literature that reflects the eco of the period of our hero, but also studies even of proper historiographic nature, are part of view study that complete the vision on the personality of our national hero, alive still today because of the positivity that conveys and the influence of some historical circumstances that were repeated in a way or another in our country. Concerning the studies prepared and published in the first decades of the last centurythere are considerations as for the work of Fan Noli, Marin Sirdani O.F.M., Francis Pall, Athanas Gegaj etc. Our commentary follows a reasoned chronological course and don’t trespass the year of 500 anniversary of death of Gjergj Kastrioti-Skënderbeu, year in which were published collective studies, based on archival researches and also reprints of works of Marin Barleti and other authors.
