Summary/Abstract: After almost one hundred years that passed since World War I ended, The Great War, as it was called for short time, continues to arouse interest from multiple points of view. In this paper the author provides a short introduction of how science and technology applied on military domain, influenced the evolution of the military art. The emergence of new types of weapons, some of them marking the appearance of new categories of armed forces, the improvement of the existing types of weapon systems and the mutations produced in the tactical use of the various types of troops and assets are important issues on which science and technology left their footprint. The purpose of this paper is to highlight the impact that science and technology produced on the military art during World War I.
