Summary/Abstract: The relevance of this research stems from the experience gained in the implementation of observation as part of the practical training of the students-future IT teachers and from the challenge of conducting it fully in electronic form during the current academic year (2020), given the declared state of emergency due to which students do not physically attend schools and universities. Observation as a form of training is part of the practical training of students - future teachers in Bulgaria. In its essence, it is the observation and analysis of lessons in the secondary school, carried out under the direct guidance of a mentor from the higher school. Students have a prior preparation to participate in this form of study, which they have gained from theoretical training, from generally didactic and privately didactic subjects. This preparation is sufficient in the context of traditional student attendance training. Students also have the competencies to create e-learning objects designed for blended learning (traditional plus supporting e-learning). In the context of an emergency, there are challenges for all participants in the observation - students, mentor and teachers.Students must: participate in online observation in virtual classrooms; analyze forms of organization suitable for asynchronous and synchronous e-learning; to compare training methods appropriate to traditional and e-learning; to adopt the synchronous e-learning platforms used by the basic school and the university; to discuss and analyze the online observed lesson with the teacher and mentor; to assess the adequacy of the competencies they have acquired to provide online training at the phase of teacher-training practice and pre-graduation pedagogical practice. The mentor should: arrange online observation; to consider the forthcoming updating of the curricula concerning privately didactic disciplines in informatics and information technologies in order for the students to acquire competencies for online teaching; to improve their own skills in working with e-learning platforms. Teachers must: adapt didactic materials in an accessible format for asynchronous and synchronous e-learning; to provide adequate and reliable feedback on the degree of absorption of the educational content by the pupils; to demonstrate to students adequate professional competencies. The challenges for all participants in online observation are being overcomed in action and are subjective prerequisites for successful learning process and improvement of professional competence
