HEALTH EDUCATION IN THE CLASS TIME

Summary/Abstract: Health education takes an important role in pedagogic work in the class time. It is well planned and organised processes of pedagogical and learning for adoption of health related knowledge, skills and relationships, target towards attitude for healthy behavior and way of living in sustainable environment, encouraging the health of the others. This article reviews the definition and main features of health education in both Europe and in Bulgaria. Considers the concepts of health literacy and physical activity, an important part of European educational policy. Elements of the health culture in the structure of key competences for lifelong learning are outlined. Concepts have been systematised to broaden the understanding of healthy literacy and to include elements of personal and social development in the individual. An integrated Sørensen model is described in which the medical and social components of health literacy interact across four dimensions and three domains. The objectives and main area as well as topics for environmental education in Europe and Bulgaria are discussed. Seven major areas of healthy education are described: mental health and personal development, physical development and capacity, prevention of psychoactive substance use, safety and first aid, sexual health and sexually transmitted infections, personal hygiene, and nutrition. On this basis, a class structure for the hour of the class is proposed. It covers five thematic areas: physical activities, personal hygiene, healthy behavior, healthy eating and mental health. In each of the them, content, methods, tasks and activities for health education are described
