Summary/Abstract: The rampant urbanization in the last decades makes urban planning, both as a scientific subject1, and as an activity of general interest, encumber the activity of a wide range of professional categories. The legal professions, irrespective of their form of manifestation, are among those that have responsibilities established in relation to the integration of urban planning requirements and the activity of notaries public is no exception. The application of urban planning legislation in notarial practice, characterized by prudence, and the notary public’s responsibilities must be analysed by taking into account defining aspects such as the public interest that characterizes both the urban planning law and the notary public’s activity, the public service that the notary performs and the global phenomenon of the “privatization” of public services, the content and quality of the applicable urban planning norms.
