Summary/Abstract: The article concerns the advisability of the introducing of the substitution operator as part of deliveries in last mile logistics delivery systems. Currently, it is an extremely interesting issue and a research topic at the same time. On the one hand, the number of sent items have been growing significantly for some recent years, in particular the number of packages sent via postal and courier operators. On the other hand, these companies have specific human and material resources that cannot be easily and quickly increased. From the third, the requirements of the recipients of parcels are constantly increasing. On the fourth, the increase in the number of shipments delivered has a negative impact on the available road infrastructure capacity and the accompanying emissions of noise and pollution. Therefore, the introduction of a substitution operator may be a proposal to facilitate, accelerate and make such deliveries cheaper, more flexible and more environmentally friendly. The research was based on an analysis of the existing strategies used in this field by individual operators and on this basis, proposing specific solutions, at least some of which can be quite quickly and easily implemented.
