Summary/Abstract: In their activities international road transport hauliers can establish contacts with suppliers or recipients of goods directly on their own or through brokers. In European conditions the most commonly employed group of brokers includes: independent agents – correspondents, freight forwarders and logistics operators, another one – big carriers and freight exchanges – Internet freight transport exchanges. Generally in the branch there is no rule when the broker should be chosen and when it is better to sign a contract with the direct sender of goods. It depends on many factors such as the size of a transport company, number and type of vehicles when compared to the requirements specified in an order, additional requirements given by sender, etc. In such a kind of a case the factors mentioned above are only of the basic-theoretical type. Due to this their influence on the transport contract signed by the international forwarders may differ. As a result. considering the same external conditions, the same transport potentatial of the forwarder and even the same strategy, it is better for one transport company during the realization of the contract to sign it with a broker, and for another one it is better to establish the direct contact and to sign an agreement with the suppliers or recipients of goods on his own..
