Summary/Abstract: The evolutionary viewpoint derives from a broad range of names that includes a philosopher, Karl Popper, and an economist, Friedrich Hayek, both Viennese. Within this evolutionary position, morality is viewed as a basis of institutions, not so much in the case of Popper but clearly in the work of Hayek. This point has been recently revived and explored by George Soros, by asserting that the forces of demoralization stemming from excessive individualism dangerously undermine the existing genuine capitalism.
