Summary/Abstract: Distressed by the horrors of war, both the town and rural population of Stara Raška, Christians and Muslims alike, turned to what could blur their somber everyday life. Thirst for amusement grew with an increase of general uncertainty, which could be found at every step. The members of the occupying armies also had the similar needs. The Occupier kept a watchful eye on the entertainment, leisure and sport, and used them to diminish the dissatisfaction of its troops and the occupied population. This situation caused flourishing all kinds of entertainment, including prostitution and gambling, a number of bars, taverns and pubs, as well as sports events. This, however, led the people to immoral path. Free time in the times of occupation, especially in towns, was marked by drink, song, dance, sex, etc. In such an atmosphere, there was less space for culture, which was also under strict control of the occupier.
