Summary/Abstract: The victory of the October Revolution played a significant role in the formation of the Bulgarian literary process. In the end of the 20’s of the twentieth century modernism was predominant in Bulgaria — this was the work of E. Popdimitrov, Ch. Jaseňov, L. Stoianov, N. Liliev, T. Traianov, D. Debelianov, and G. Milev, October events in Russia became a landmark in the literary activity of many of them. Then Jasenov’s Petrogrod, and Popdimitrov’s poem Russia are created. The most interesting example is the evolution that took place in the creative stand point of Geo Milev. He was the leading propagator and theoretician of the last period of modernism in Bulgaria, the most outstanding representative of expressionism in this country. The theory of revolution realized in October 1917 made a complete turn in the views of the world and literary activity of Milev. The new, chief hero of his works becomes now the proletariate (Expressionistic calendar, The hell, The day of Wrath, and September). The experience of the problem of revolution became an organizing centre and an inspiring force for the Bulgarian literature. It caused its transition from modernism to the socially committed realistic literary work.
