Summary/Abstract: The article is dedicated to the Romanian village – „Centre of the Universe”, seen from the perspective of childhood, lived in compliance with the canons and unwritten laws of the village, highlighting the important role of the family, school, church and society in upbringing and child rearing. The village is seen as a geographic, psychological and social unit, with people living in close communion. The Third Millennium Society brings about major changes and transformations in the Romanian village, leading to a crisis both in practical and spiritual terms. In the context of EU integration, the Romanian village represents the national identity factor by preserving the customs and traditions, the song, the garments, and the popular dance etc, demonstrating the still living creative spirit of the nation that lives in this „Centre of the Universe” which is the Romania village.
