Summary/Abstract: The aim of the research was the cognitive assessment of a difficult situation in generating aggressive strategy of coping in a social conflict situation by adolescents. In the research the author used the Stress Appraisal Questionnaire (Polish: Kwestionariusz Oceny Stresu – KOS) devised by D. Włodarczyk, K. Wrześniewski and a questionnaire testing the adolescent coping strategies in a social conflict situation (in Polish abbreviated KSMK) developed by D. Borecka-Biernat. The empirical studies were carried out in junior high schools. They involved 893 adolescents (468 girls and 425 boys) aged 13–15. Analysis of the research results has proven that assessing a situation as a threat intensifies the aggression strategy of adolescent coping in a social conflict situation.
