Summary/Abstract: The aim of the research was to evaluate temperament and family factors in forming the strategies of coping with difficult situations of social contact (aggression, avoidance) in emotional youth. The research tool used for surveying variables was a questionnaire designed by the author for conducting research on youth’s coping with difficult situations of social contact (RTSS), the Strelau Temperament Inventory and PCR Form III questionnaire compiled by A. Roe, M. Siegelman. Empirical research involved 415 adolescents (182 girls and 233 boys), aged 13–15. In light of the research conducted it was proved that defense (aggression, avoidance) of adolescent children as a way of reacting to emotional tension, created during difficult social situations, differs significantly by temperament characteristics concerning characteristics of strength of the nervous processes and the intensification of inappropriate parental behaviour characterized by mother’s and father’s emotional concentration towards the adolescent child.
