Summary/Abstract: In this research, the author investigates the life and activity of Ioan Slavici, one of the most important Romanian writers from the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th one and brings into attention an aspect that has not been enough investigated until now, both by the literary criticism as by the theological space, namely the ethical dymension of his literature. Emphasizing clear examples and presenting images that certify his hypotesis, he manages not only to show that there are simmilitudes between his work and important writers like Dostoyevsky, but also to present the dichotomical aspects, to speak about the most relevant characters that have also an ethical relevance and to investigate keywords in the understanding of his ideas, like the relationship between sin and sufferance.
