Summary/Abstract: The article deals with the volume and composition of the phraseological minimum asa necessary and eff ective element of the formation of linguistic and cultural competencein the process of language learning at intermediate and upper intermediate levels, outlinesthe quantitative and qualitative structure of the phraseological minimum for learning theUkrainian language by Slavic students, and off ers a list of phraseological units as a component of the described minimum. The material presented in the textbooks of the Ukrainianlanguage as a foreign language was used to form the list of phraseological units, whichwas minimized according to the criteria of selection of the phraseological minimum forlevels B1-B2.
