How to effectively help – the teacher’s competence to help students

Summary/Abstract: Assistance in education is an important topic, especially in the context of current educational changes. This article is a voice in the thematic debate and aims to show the teacher’s competence to help students in the perspective of the emancipating educational paradigm. The content of the article begins with explaining the notion of help and terms that are synonymous and defining assistance in the psychological and pedagogical dimension. Next, it was used to review the classification of the teacher’s professional competences based on selected pedeutological concepts. On the basis of the described classifications and taking into account the paradigm of assistance based on developing the autonomy and subjectivity of the unit, a catalog of the teacher’s competences for assistance activities in the area of education was developed. The intention of the author of the article is to stimulate reflection on the personal resources of teachers in the role of helping people.
