Author(s): Karol Jasiński
Subject(s): Christian Theology and Religion
Published by: Verbinum
Keywords: Catholicism; Poland; faith; religious experience; intellect; feelings

Summary/Abstract: The author has attempted to reconstruct and critically present first the vision of Catholicism itself and then of Polish Catholicism, which Bocheński had. His vision was mainly formed by philosophical views he held in the period when he initially sympathized with Thomism and then with analytical philosophy. The article consists of two parts. The first discusses the nature of Catholicism itself from the formal rather than the content side. Attention was also paid to the issue of religious experience as a starting point for faith. In the second part, following Bocheński’s thought, a characteristic of Polish Catholicism was made. Attention was drawn to his following attributes: stability, sentimentality, anti-intellectualism, tolerance, commonality, militarism and patriotism.
