Summary/Abstract: The article presents the results of research on parental observations regarding the importance of media in the life of their gifted children. The text also presents an analysis of narrative interviews regarding the use by gifted children contemporary media. Moreover, the parental attitudes have been shown to the dominant role of computers and IT equipment in the development and social relations of school children. The ways associated with reducing the access to the media have been indicated, such as time limit or resignation from IT equipment, directing children’s attention to their interests and passions, conscious use of software, controlling emotions when using computer games. The studies have also shown the helplessness of some adults in relation to the attractiveness of the media. The media have been considered by many parents to be a significant inhibitor in the development of their children’s abilities.
