Special needs children must occupy a special place in society, they must have their rights and obligations. One of these rights is the right to development, which should be supported through various interactions, so that a disabled child can have a full and normal life (Convention on the Rights of the Child). Previous scientific research and available literature on the subject confirm the positive impact of dogotherapy on the functioning of people with disabilities. These studies however there is little in the field of social sciences. This publication defines the concept of disability and its types, and then introduces the topic of animal therapy and its fields - dog therapy. The publication also describes the forms of dog therapy and the type of human interaction, and then describes the well-known centers using dog therapy in Poland. After which the results of own research were presented. The research was carried out in selected institutions of the Świętokrzyskie Province. The type of effect of dogotherapy on the therapy of children with disabilities (conjugate) was examined. The publication ended with a discussion and conclusions from the conducted research. Dogotherapy has been shown to be attractive to children and a highly effective therapeutic method supporting the rehabilitation of children with conjugated disability, which has a positive effect on many areas of the child’s functioning. The effectiveness of this method increases with the time the child participates in dog therapy.
