The storage and transport technologies of pome fruits

Summary/Abstract: Storage and transport are important technical tools in the fruit-growing industry, and their role between others is due to the seasonality of production. The article describes various types of storage used by fruit growers, as well as methods for storing of pome fruits considering the required microclimatic conditions. There are also presented the basic functions of packaging as an effective measure against mechanical and climatic factors during fruit storage and transport un this work. Various means of fruit transport and microclimate conditions which affect their quality during transport are also included in the article. The use of modern technical tools related to the storage and transport allows that the high-quality fruits are available to the polish consumer not only in the growing season, but also throughout the whole year.
