Summary/Abstract: The legacy of the Charter 77 can be defined as faith in a culture of pluralism and tolerance, as the efforts to re-establish an independent public opinion under dictatorship It can be considered also the embryo pf a European public opinion that concentrated its attention on the future of democratic politics and on transcending the division of Europe.
