Summary/Abstract: The situation of teachers after the Second World War was difficult. The remuneration which they were offered for their work was excessively low, which brought about the fact that some of the teachers in question, namely those having higher qualifications, were looking for different and better-paid jobs. The steps taken by socialist authorities, difficulties with accommodation, financial problems, and also bad working conditions, all resulted in the uncertainty of tomorrow. With time, the situation was showing the signs of limited improvement. However, at the end of the 1980s, teachers were still among the worst-paid professions. It was exclusively the infrastructure and equipment in the classrooms that had changed.
