Summary/Abstract: Mária Rázusová-Martáková is one of the foundational personalities in Slovak literature written intentionally for children and young adults. This attribute is linked not only with her own literary writings but also with her working as a translator. In my article I depicted how these two dimensions of her creative personality were interwoven. Literary adaptations are typical for her work as a translator. It is clearly visible how her creative personality as an author had an influence on her literary adaptions. I analysed her adaptation of a poem The tale of a Silly Mouse written by a Soviet author Samuel Marshak. I also depicted how her perception of children´s culture was linked with tradition of the Slovak Protestant culture which she was a part of and took a spiritual resource.
