Benefits from cooperation between units from the sphere science and business – review of the literature

Summary/Abstract: The purpose of the article is review of domestic and foreign literature which presents benefits of cooperation between units from the sphere of science and business. It should be emphasized that these benefits are not too often noticed in the Polish reality. Whereas, in more developed economies, cooperation with entrepreneurs enables universities to obtain additional funds for research activities and improve their purely theoretical image on a more practical. On the other hand, enterprises gain the possibility of cheaper acquisition of new technologies (compared to individual research) and the possibility of divide the risk into more entities. We can not forget about the benefits achieved by employees from the sphere of science, who, when cooperating with entrepreneurs, do not always involve their parent units in it.
