Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to analyse the figure of a „nomadic subject” in the works of FulvioTomizza and Mauro Covacich, Italian writers coming from the region of north-eastern frontier (Trieste, IstrianPeninsula). The choice of building such a subject, visible in several novels of those two authors can beinterpreted as a symptom of reaction to the conflictual reality of the described area as well as an attemptof facing the identitary dilemmas generated by the frontier. As a result, Tomizza creates an oneiric taleof fading away that brings liberation, while Covacich (in his family saga La città interiore) shows some therapeuticeffects of a „nomadic research”, thanks to which one regains the bond with the territory.
