Summary/Abstract: In the 60s last century American anthropologist Margaret Mead made the division of culture. The third of these types – pre-figurative, says that in the indefinite future times would come when adults begin to learn from the younger generations. This text is an attempt to confront this conception with modern family living in the reality of the Polish town of medium size. To test this observations have been carried out and interviews with family members (similar in terms of residence and age of their members, but very different in terms of social status and level of education material) were made. Carrying out these mini-studies was to confirm or deny the fact of prefigurative culture entering into life of the average Polish family.
