Summary/Abstract: Currently, we are witnessing changes occurring in the international security environment, which are the results of intensification and strengthening of threats resulting mainly from international terrorism, the phenomenon of failed states, massive exile of civilian population from regions affected by armed conflicts to Europe, and irresponsible policy of countries with power aspirations. In spite of the fact that most of the discussed threats were already known and we dealt with them already in the first decade of the 21st century, a relatively new phenomenon of the modern so-called “global epoch” is the way in which they occur, are combined and inter connected with each other creating a network of interrelations. The given article also concerns problems related to migration and refugees. It presents both initial situations in the countries of migrants and refugees origin (political, economic, cultural, or those related to climate changes), as well as mechanisms and political conditions that lead to migrations of people around the world.
