Summary/Abstract: Necessary condition for the proper functioning of each organization is correct management, imagination, entrepreneurship, flexibility, skillful use of opportunities and their creation thanks to strategic thinking and acting. Management in today’s world is not only a branch of science and the way of managing the organization, it is also a philosophy and a way of life. A lot of people use on an everyday basis, sometimes even unintentionally, instruments optimizing their time, money and all other resources they operate. Only such aprocedure enables creating the desired future, development of each organization and maintaining a system of cooperation with the structures of its surroundings. The management process is carried out by managers whose task is to professionally set and execute the organization’s tasks. In the conditions of the new era, the concept of manager still has no due place in the theory of organization and management; there are also no clearly defined criteria for defining this profession. Only the roles, qualities and competencies of the managerare usually defined. Acquiring the competencies necessary to perform the managerial function is a very complex and sometimes very difficult process. It is connected not only with gaining knowledge and skills required due to the nature of the work performed, but also with improving social competences necessary in the management process. Managing the organization, including the military one and its staff, requires great responsibility, making difficult decisions in a very short time. The effectiveness of the manager depends largely on his individual approach. The main objectives of the article are to make the concept of the manager’s concept, define the desired managerial competences and present the manager’s features based on research carried out in the security sector, within the subject of the MULF to prepare students for the role of manager in crisis management in the aspect of activities that develop their creativity and innovation.
