Summary/Abstract: The paper interprets J. M. Barrie’s prose Peter Pan, a work that reflects rich children’s fantasy and the depth of children’s dreaming. We would like to point out a large net of metaphors portraying psychical evolution of a dependent child into an independent adult, into a unique personality. Besides that the paper puts an emphasison a specific function of imagination and dreams in the literature for children and youth.
