Summary/Abstract: Kateřina Váňová argues that reading narrative literature both contributes to the de velopment of competencies in school-age readers and has a positive influence on a child’s person ality in general. In the article’s analytical-interpretative part, she examines the potential of using artistic texts in the process of building emotional maturity in children. She draws attention to the method’s practical application in the process of socialization and of building self-knowledge.
