Summary/Abstract: The issue of confidence is one of the most common problems which lies in the focus of attention of modern psychology and of other humanities. It is also dealt with by experts in marketing and management as well as teachers. The process of creating the atmosphere of confidence starts in a family and parents are the first people whom children trust. The parents’ attitude and confidence in their own potential as well as their constant self-learning contribute to the development of their children who will enter adult world endowed or not with competencies and abilities. Without these qualities we cannot talk about self-confidence and confidence in others. The problem is really crucial as confidence is a fundamental element which is the ground for building a civic society and promoting sustainable social and economic development. Sociological studies confirm that Poles take almost the last place with regards to being able to confide in other people. Since we are just beginning to create such a civic society we should not expect immediate positive effects.
