Management of Socio-economic Development Processes at the Regional Level Using the Method of Benchmarking

Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this study is to analyze and evaluate the socio-economic development of Eastern Polish provinces. Using the selected indicators that have been taken in the attempt to compare and evaluate five Polish regions, setting among them role models in each category. The article consists of three parts. The first one shows the specificity of socio-economic development, with particular emphasis on the regional dimension. The second part analyses the regional development in the context of strategic management. The different kinds of methods and techniques used in strategic analysis of the environment, both enterprises and territorial units under study are presented here. The last - the third part depicts procedure of strategic benchmarking regions for Polish and Eastern provinces. For the examination of the methods unitarisation zero was used here.
