SPA And WELLNESS services in the offer of Pomeranian Hotel establishments as the factor determining tourist function development of the region

Summary/Abstract: The aim of the paper is to present the role and the meaning of the hotels’ Spa & Wellness facilities in creating competitive advantage of Pomeranian Voivodeship as tourist destination. The research problem is seeking the answer for the question: if the service potential of hotels in the area of Spa and Wellness can be one of the main determinants in tourism function development of the region? Applied research method was critical review of the literature and analyze of the regional strategic documents connected with the study problem. Additionally, to assess the range and diversity of the Spa & Wellness facilities and service offer, the exploration of the Internet sites of Pomeranian hotel establishments was conducted. The study results confirmed that Pomeranian hotel establishments have broaden their offer by implemented the Spa and Wellness facilities, enriching in this way service experience of their hotel guests. It was observed both in the case of hotels of the upper standard and in economic ones. Additionally, the SWOT analysis proved that the variety and the wide range of the Spa and Wellness services in the offer of the Pomeranian hotels may create both the strength and opportunity for the dynamic Spa and Wellness tourism development in the region.
