Summary/Abstract: In the first development phase of the child the parents remain the sole and irrefutable authority. They also have a decisive influence on the choice of the most important values. With the passing years, their role should complemented by the teachers, the media and their immediate environment. The ongoing debate about the contemporary model of the family, its tasks and the roles the parents have to play in the upbringing of their children does not change this fact. Despite the difficulties faced by the society and the family and no one denies that ecological issues are among the priorities in the education of future generations. Because of the emotional and unique bonds between family members, active participation of parents in the transmission of ecological value is irreplaceable.
