Summary/Abstract: Jonas Daniliauskas was born in 1950 in Lekečiai, near Šakiai, and studied at the M. K. Čiurlionis School of Art. In 1974 he graduated from the State Institute of Art where he studied painting. A. Petrulis and J. Švažas were his teachers. In 1974-1984 he was a teacher at the M.K.Čiurlionis School of Art and later at Vilnius Institute of Art. He has held personal exhibitions in towns in Lithuania as well as in Baden Baden, Zurich, Greifswald and Warsaw. He has taken part in collective exhibitions in Bulgaria, Denmark, Russia, Finland, the USA, Germany, Poland, Latvia, Georgia, Turkey, Armenia, Japan, Spain, India, Great Britain, France and Switzerland. In 1979 he was awarded the prize of the Ministry of Culture of Lithuania; in 1985 the first prize of the same ministry at the fourth biennial exhibition of Baltic art; in 1985 the first prize at the 11th biennial exhibition of Baltic and Icelandic art in Rostock (Germany); in 1999 the prize of the Union of Lithuanian Artists.
