Summary/Abstract: Classical Turkish literature has served an important source in terms of both Turkish culture and history for the period when it continued its existence. The poets of the period, moreover, had considered everything that was both concrete and abstract as a rich material for their poetry. Classical Turkish literature had become the subject of discussion and criticism in parallel with the cultural changes that started during the Tanzimat reform era. Primary one of criticisms against Classical Turkish literature was its being the literature of the palace, and its being far too disconnected from social life. As a result of recent studies, it has become apparent that this criticism is rather untrue. Classical Turkish Literature poets addressed the life and traditions of society alongside people's behavioural patterns in their poetry through an artistic style. Kabûlî from Gediz, who lived in the 16thCentury, was not indifferent to the period and social life in which he lived, and skilfully laced historical events as well as the lives and traditions of the people in his poems. This paper focuses on the use of the topic of bribery, which a major problem of the society, in Classical Turkish literatureand examines bribery ode of Kabûlî.
