Summary/Abstract: Pertev Mehmed Sa'îd Pasha was born Darıca in 1785. He was a scholar and poet, as well as an honest statesman who had served at different levels of the Empire. Sultan Mahmud II loved and respected him very much. This situation thus led to jealousness on his circle, and various plots were made against him; upon this, he was dismissed from his duty and he was sent into exile in Edirne. He then was invited to the mansion of the governor of Edirne and was drowned. The only work he had left behind was his Divan. One faulty master's thesis entitled Mehmed Sa’îd Pertev Paşa Dîvânı (A Transcription and Analysis) was previously written on the Divan. During the preparation of this master thesis, we found that the text that had been previous worked were in fact poems selected from Muvakkit-zâde Pertev's Divân, instead of Pertev Mehmed Sa’îd Pasha. These errors were made due to name similarity and carelessness. The present study gave information about the life of Pertev Mehmed Sa'îd Pasha, and described his Divan, published in Istanbul, in terms of both its form and content. A transcribed text of the poems selected from Divân was also given.
