Summary/Abstract: Unlike in the vast majority of European countries, in the Czech Republic the status of Czech as theofficial language is not expressly embedded in Czech law: neither by the constitution, nor by a language decree nor by any other act. This paper aims to examine this unique phenomenon both by outlining its historical background and considering its possible change.
