Summary/Abstract: Victor Gorduza was born in Cetatea Albă on April 27, 1942. Two years later, his family fled to Romania. The mother and the boy arrived at Lugoj, the father, along with his pupils, in Satu Mare. Soon the family met and finally settled in Baia Mare. There Victor attended all the school years. After graduating from the „Gheorghe Şincai” National College, he attended the Faculty of Geology and Geography at the “Babeş-Bolyai” University of Cluj. In this paper, the authors present the stages that Victor Gorduza went through in the establishment of the Mineralogy Museum in Baia Mare, which today bears his name. This is one of the most important museums in Romania beingone of a kind in Europe. Victor Gorduza dedicated his entire life to this museum, whose founding director he was between 1992–2010. He never forgot to mention all those who had joined him in the establishment of the Mineralogy Museum in Baia Mare. Such a personality, as that of the mineralogist Victor Gorduza, deserves a high appreciation from both his contemporaries and future generations.
