Summary/Abstract: The study is an attempt to assess the use of European funds in Poland for the tourism economy in the financial perspective for 2007–2013. The general place of the tourism economy in regional operational programs has been presented. The area of research was the communes of Zachodniopomorskie Voivodeship. The aim of the study was SWOT analysis of the use of European Union funds in the regional tourism economy in relation to the financial perspective in 2007–2013. The research shows that the EU funds for the project analyzed in tourist communities don’t directly decide on the state of operation of the tourism economy, but generally influence on regional development and living standards. The relationship between the state of use of EU funds and the development of the tourism economy is also the result of many other factors that should be analyzed individually for individual communes. This problem can be observed by assessing the elements identified in the SWOT analysis. Considerations and conclusions of research are the basis for further research in the area of the financial perspective for 2014–2020 and the place of the tourist economy in the EU funding at the level of local government units.
