Protection of European Union's Financial Interests Through Administrative Investigations

Summary/Abstract: The protection of the financial interests of the European Union is realized through three main elements at national and European level: a regulatory framework, a policy framework and competent authorities. The applicable legal framework determines the types of inspections and investigations the institutions can carry out in two fields of law: administrative and criminal. This study shall review the nature of the administrative investigations to protect the EU's financial interests.
