Summary/Abstract: This overview will presents Bosnian and Herzegovinian surnames motivated by the terms of footwear and clothing, their forms, changes, they ways in which the footwear and clothing styles emerged and replaced each other in the long course of Bosnian and Herzegovinian history. In the present, as in the past, being without clothing means disgrace, be dressed is a sign of protection, and the quality of clothing means represent. So it is not surprising that the lexemes from the semantic field of textiles and shoemaking were an inspiration for the process of identifi cation – in the creation of a surname. Considering that, the aim of this paper is to: 1. find all the motives from the sphere of clothing and footwear and their etymology in Bosnian and Herzegovinian last names 2. define the function and the way of creating a surnames 3. determine the frequency and the locus where the last name was found 4. to promote interest in onomastic research in Bosnian language.
