Summary/Abstract: Creative contacts between the young Shostakovich and Russian art avant-guarde representatives in the first decades of the 20th century is an interesting research object for the contemporary music science. The present article analyzes their technical interaction, displayed in the opera “Nose”. This work’s avant-guarde essence is revealed together with its historical fate and development of music theory thoughts about it, in conditions of political terror, artistic passions and their subsequent revisions of past decades.
