Summary/Abstract: Heterogeneous as they may seem, the Nabis were united by the same principle of sanctifying everyday life through Art. Just like their spiritual master, Paul Gauguin, several Nabis painters dared to reinterpretate probably the most important religious scene of Christianity, the Crucifixion, in their own personal and synthetist note, keeping in mind and putting at use in the same time the lessons of “The Yellow Christ” and “Self-portrait with the Yellow Christ”. This paper aims to retrace the manifold transformations of the image of Christ in general and of “The Yellow Christ” of “master” Gauguin in particular in the paintings of three Nabis: Paul Ranson (the Nabi who is more Japanese than the Japanese Nabi), Maurice Denis (the Nabi with beautiful icons) and Édouard Vuillard (the Nabi Zouave).
