Summary/Abstract: I have set forth the thesis in the article that Socrates considered freedom a subjective value of the spirit and an objective value of ethical consciousness along with a distinctive idea of the freedom of choice. I have used as arguments his unique philosophical way of life which combined rare for that time criticism and individualism and discovering the moral personality based on a new understanding of personal responsibility, conscience and duteous behaviour.
