The Poetic String of Momcilo Nastasijevic

Summary/Abstract: The paper analyzes the poem Struna by Momcilo Nastasijevic. The poem is the actualization of Nastasijevic’s poetics. Unlike Mallarmé, who gave the poetic language a higher priority, Nastasijevic equated poetry and poet. The elimination of poetic indi viduality and every reference to reality, as well as Christian metaphysics, are the basis of Nastasijevic’s poetics. Poetry is possible only as a sacrifice of everything material, in favor of the spiritual.
