Summary/Abstract: In this paper, I analyse the modal particles denn, doch and ja in subordinate clauses. First, I define the term modal particles in German and Bosnian. Following this, I offer a brief overview of the previous research on German modal particles in subordinate clauses. An empirical investigation of data from a German corpus will show the usage of the modal particles in subordinate clauses. Further, I will give an overview of their translation equivalents in Bosnian. This section is followed by a discussion on the relation between subordinate clauses and the sentence moods.
