Summary/Abstract: After 1948 and the Reform of Education, the system of education entered a new era of many changes and a general development. This was the case of higher education (more students, more graduates, different new specializations introduced, new institutions and new types of highereducation established). In general, it was also the case of medicine and pharmacy higher education, although according to its specifics: only a new centre established (Craiova), an increased number of students and graduates(also a trend kept in the period of ‘80s, especially due to the attractiveness to foreign students and against the general trend of most types of higher education in that period). The used statistics show us many other important aspects of this development, a golden era from the point of view of graduates, between 1975-1984, but based on previous high number of enlisted students especially in decade 1970-1979, a preponderance of female students, the lead role of Bucharest and its Institute of Medicine and Pharmacy and also, among specializations, of general medicine.
